The Miami-Dade County Fair will celebrate its 59th year March 25- April 11, 2010 and is located at the Fair Expo Center on Coral Way and 112th Avenue.

Close to 700,000 people come to The Fair each year to take part in the education, agriculture, horticulture, livestock, entertainment, food and rides on the 86 acre fairgrounds.

KidFlix Festival

KidFlix Festival presents a rich, multi-cultural experience for kids in our community with the screening of exclusive international films, animated features, documentaries and shorts on Sunday, April 11 at the Cosford Cinema at UM. There are films for every age group starting with Kid Flix Mix, a collection of the best-animated short films from around the world, 3 + years, that includes the quirky tale, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, told from the wolf’s perspective. Inside Hana’s Suitcase is a unique documentary/drama for families, and is narrated by Japanese, Czechoslovakian and Canadian children with a message of tolerance and hope. For the child in all is the magical film The Secret of Kells, nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2010 Academy Awards, where fantasy and Celtic mythology come together to show how the power of imagination and faith can carry humanity through dark times.

Between screenings is the KidFlix Activity Center with age-appropriate, hands-on projects presented by the Miami Children’s Museum and the historic Deering Estate.

KidFlix Festival is hosted by the UM School of Communications, and all films are at the Bill Cosford Cinema, 5100 Brunson Dr, Off Campo Sano, Coral Gables, on Sunday, April 11; beginning at 9:30 am until 6pm. Easter Egg Hunt at on of Miami’s Most Amazing Attractions – Miami Seaquarium.

April 2-4, 2010

Easter Egg Hunt activities take place continuously between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Each child participating in the egg hunts will receive a complimentary goody bag with candy, a commemorative plush pal and other goodies. Fun also includes music, face painting, bounce houses and many surprises. The Easter Bunny will arrive each day in a special ceremony.

Deering Seafood Festival

Top local restaurants, caterers and seafood markets prepare a dazzling array of the freshest catch for the 6th annual Deering Seafood Festival’s magical island celebration. On Sunday, March 28, at the historic Deering Estate, steel drums and Caribbean sounds fill the air while colorfully costumed Bahamian Junkanoo dancers weave playfully throughout the crowd. Under the big top tent are cooking demos with south Florida celebrity chefs: Clay Conley (Azul); Sean Bernal (Oceanaire); Damian Gilchrist (Ocean Reef Club); and Michael Bennett (Bimini Boatyard) and include food samples and wine tastings. Spend the day at Miami’s biggest backyard on Biscayne Bay with on-going musical entertainment, an Artists’ Village, a Lil’ Shrimp Kids Zone for kid-friendly fun; a sea creatures touch tank; pontoon boat rides to Chicken Key; nature hikes and tours of the historic home.

The Historic Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located on 444-acres at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. Admission tickets include park entrance and entertainment, Adults $12 in advance online/ $15 at the gate; Children 4-14 year $5, and Foundation Members Free. The event runs from 11am – 6pm.
