Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is one of the world’s renowned botanical gardens and features an extensive collection of rare tropical plants like palms and cycads. The garden is one of the more popular attractions in South Florida and visitors will learn much about South Florida’s history in addition to tropical horticulture.
Fairchild is a world leader in tropical plant research and works with other botanical gardens to preserve the biodiversity of the tropical environment. The mission of the garden as stated on their website is:
to save tropical plant diversity by exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants; fundamental to this task is inspiring a greater knowledge and love for plants and gardening so that all can enjoy the beauty and bounty of the tropical world.
